Hairdressers Speak! - Jane Bok | Focus Hairdressing

Jane Bok
Focus Hairdressing

How long have you been a hairstylist and why did you choose this line?
I have had more than 12 years of experience and training in haircuts, chemicals and other hair services. In the beginning, I wanted to learn a craft. When I came into contact with hairdressing, I realised that I was very interested in this industry. Hairdressers keep learning new skills as fashion trends evolve. Being a hairdresser has given me confidence and direction.

What are your stronger skills?
I’m particularly good with chemical services such as straightening and perming.

What do you love most about being a hairdresser?
Through my creativity, I get to make people happy by altering their appearances for the better. The relationships that blossom with fellow stylists and clients are irreplaceable. Many of my friendships started out as stylist-client relationships. We are hairdressers but we are also counsellors, listeners, friends and more.

Tell us something you love about the hair industry.
Being a hairstylist is more than just providing hair services. It is about making personal connections with your clients, helping them through life’s trials and celebrating life’s achievements. It’s about helping the ladies and gents who sit in your chair find their beauty, inside and out. It’s an industry that helps you to grow as person and as an artist, with some blood, sweat and tears.
